Straight Bowling

Well Straight Bowling or Conventional Bowling is pretty self explanatory. A ‘conventional’ straight bowler just throws the ball straight down the lane, they hold the ball with their hand underneath the ball and release the ball so it rolls over in a straight line; when mastered this is extremely easy way of bowling using conventional grip

The main reason for me creating this page was so that people can see the difference between a fingertip straight bowler and a conventional straight bowler:

Straight Conventional Release:

A conventional release is where the bowler uses a conventional grip ball; this means they have their fingers in the ball down to their knuckles. For more information please read my Ball Differences page.

Straight Fingertip Release:

Fingertip release is quite hard to start with for straight bowling, the bowler has to still release the ball from the side, which makes straight bowling harder than using a conventional grip. Someone using a fingertip Straight ball is most probably a hook bowler who uses a hook ball as well as the straight ball (which is also fingertip release), you have to master both styles of bowling (Straight AND Hook with fingertip release) to use the two very different types of ball. For more information please read my Ball Differences page.
